I need a new Raspberry Pi
The Zero is slow. Probably making it take longer to login to my WiFi, it’s using Radius.
I could put it on something else, but I’m lazy, and the Pi uses very little power.
I did just write the OpenWRT image to a spare micro SD card, for my unused Raspberry Pi Zero. The first one I bought, but destroyed the connector for the camera cable. It had Kismet on it, but I’m paranoid so unplugged it.
Now, I need a long ethernet cable. No outlets by the router and switch. I lied, don’t need the HDMI extender’s power brick plugged in. It’s not even plugged into the extender, I should sell it. Now there’s two outlets, I need two, but probably not enough room for the bricks. Long ethernet cable it is.
Doesn’t work, the USB ethernet adapter doesn’t even have a light. The cable could be bad. There is no onboard ethernet ports on the Raspberry Pi Zero.
OpenWRT is probably the most pain in the ass way to do it. Doesn’t look like it supports USB ethernet, without installing crap. Plugging it into the WAN port on the router, or to the Mini might work, but doubtful, there was no light on the USB ethernet adapter.
If I cancel Comcast, I’ll use the distro made for the Pi, it supports USB ethernet out of the box. Good if you don’t want to hook a monitor and keyboard up to it.
